The French Open Catch-Up: Round One - Naomi Osaka withdrawal reaction; Top seeds Thiem, Rublev & Muguruza dumped out; Kvitova's freak injury; Big 3 progress smoothly; Serena kicks-off Night sessions; Norrie sole Brit survivor

In the latest episode of The Passing Shot, the tennis podcast by fans, Joel and Kim catch up on all the key talking points from the First Round of play at Roland Garros 2021.

They discuss Naomi Osaka’s decision to withdraw from the tournament for mental health reasons in light of the press conference debacle, and what this means for both her and the role of the press in tennis going forwards.

They catch up on the early shocks from the tournament with top seeds Rublev, Muguruza, Andreescu and Thiem all out in round one, whilst conversely Daniil Medvedev recorded his first ever victory on the Parisian clay.

They also reflect on Cam Norrie once again being Britain’s last remaining singles player in the draw with disappointing defeats being suffered by Konta, Evans and Watson.

Joel and Kim also lament their terrible Collect A Set predictions, which, it is safe to say, have not got off to the best of starts.
